Aleksandar Andrija Pejović is a senior expert in EU affairs with almost 20 years of experience in EU integration processes and International diplomacy. He currently works as a Senior partner in the EuroNavigator network for Western Balkans and is included in implementation of various projects financed by the EC, UNDP, GiZ and other relevant donors.

In 2000 he started working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, performing various duties both in multilateral an bilateral affairs. He worked as a Counsellor in the Office for Cooperation between Montenegro and Slovenia in Ljubljana (2001 – 2002) as well as in the Embassy of Serbia and Montenegro in Skoplje, performing duties of national representative to the Regional Centre for Migrations, Asylum and Refugees (2005-2006). From 2006 to 2007 Minister Pejović worked as the Head of the Division for the United Nations, coordinating cooperation between Montenegro and the UN system, organising the analytical work within the framework of the jurisdiction of Direction coordinating communication of relevant ministries and other public administration bodies with the UN agencies. In 2007 he was appointed as the Director of the Directorate for European Union in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, participating in the most important gatherings and meetings between our and the European officials, being a member of various Government working bodies in the process of European integration for three years.

He also served as the Ambassador – Head of the Mission of Montenegro to the EU (2010-2012) and the Permanent Representative – Ambassador of Montenegro to Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the Hague (2010-2014).

He was Chief Negotiator for Negotiations on Accession of Montenegro to the European Union from 2011 to 2018. At the same time he performed the position of the National Coordinator for Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance for the period 2012-2018. In 2012 he also became Secretary of State for European Integration in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Europan Integration of Montenegro. In 2016 he was nominated as the Minister of European Affairs of the Government of Montenegro, the duty he performed until February 2018.

Aleksandar Andrija Pejović is currently pursuing his PhD studies in European law at the Law Faculty of the University of Belgrade. He is the Head of the Committee for International Relations, European and Euroatlantic integration of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montengro, as well as a Member of the Presidency of the Party of European Socialists. He is also a member of the Europe Policy Group and the New Leaders of the World Economic Forum.
